I am not a number, I am a free man!

The Prisoner Theme for the Windows95 Plus! pack
Created by J.B. Roth

web page:
http://www.csam.montclair.edu/~roth/

Feel free to distribute this Theme to all your Prisoner-loving friends, but please:

1: Don't change any of the files (unless you create something really cool, in which
case I'd really appreciate it if you sent it to me...;-)

2: Please, really please, don't sell this Theme or charge any fee to download it.
It would be a very #2 sort of thing to do, and in the interest of freedom and free
thinkers everywhere, so let's not be a number.

If you have any suggestions, improvements, or ideas that you would like to see but
don't have the time or software to make, feel free to e-mail me, and I'll see what
I can do.

Installation

  To install:

If your using Winzip, this file should unzip into a folder on your C: drive called
"unzipped" (the folder will be called "Prisoner"). If you want to skip a step or
two, go to your Themes directory and create a new folder called Prisoner and unzip
this file into it. Open the folder, find the The Prisoner.Theme file, drop it into
the Themes folder, and select it in the Themes control panel. That should do it!
Otherwise, drag-and -drop the "Prisoner" folder into the Themes folder, from the
"unzipped" folder, open the folder, find the The Prisoner.Theme file, drop it into
the Themes folder, and select it in the Themes control panel.

I have included The Prisoner font. This needs to go into your "Fonts" folder in
your "Windows" folder. You don't have to do this, but it is cool. Here is an abridged
version of the Readme file that came with it:

Village Font, version 2.1, by Mark F. Heiman (mheiman@carleton.edu)

This font was designed to closely resemble that used in the cult TV classic
"The Prisoner," created by and starring Patrick McGoohan.
The letterforms are mostly based on the "Albertus" typeface, with a few exceptions:
* The lowercase "e" has been replaced by an open, epsilon-style "e"
* The dot has been removed from the lowercase "i" and "j"

This font is freeware. You may copy and distribute it to your heart's content with no
obligation whatsoever. I designed it for my own personal use with no intention of profit.
Just don't claim it as your own work and we'll all be happy.
Special thanks to Ronald Clark for providing a scan of the button logo.
Be seeing you. Mark F. Heiman
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have also included the Windows startup and shut down Logo screens, also by Larry Hall.
His instructions are included in the Prislogos.zip file.

*Note: You need Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95 and Winzip in order to properly install
this Theme. You must use Winzip to preserve the long filenames when you unzip the
archive.

Explanations:

All icons and cursors were either found by me on the 'Net, or altered by me using
Microangelo, a most excellent piece of software. They are:
Icons:

My Computer - A very nice Prisoner 48x48 icon
Network Neighborhood - The "new" #2; from another Prisoner Theme
Recycle Full - A Rover, also from that Prisoner Theme
Recycle Empty - Someone's always watching, in The Village
My Documents - #6's badge, if you want to use it for this
A spare Prisoner face icon, if you want to change one of the icons

Cursors:

Prisoner Pointer - A Rover making his rounds;
a nice cursor by Laith Renno of Ionflux Designs
Prisoner Help - A key to escape; by Brian Feldman
Prisoner Working - A hypnotic disk
Prisoner Busy - A Hypodermic. (#6 will never talk...)
Prisoner Up - Another key (there can never be enough; but there is still no way out...)

Wallpaper:
This was a conglomeration of images I found on the 'Net, most notably by Larry Hall. The
3D image of the coffee cup was done by Christophe Taddei.

Sounds:

Asterisk: The Attention horn from The Village.
Critical Stop: When #6 tries to escape, The Village goes to...
Default Sound: #6 says goodbye.
Exclamation: #6's first question.
Exit Windows: When #6 leaves, (?) this is what happens...
Maximize: Someone's calling...
Minimize: The "new" #2 says goodbye.
Program Error: Rover scream.
Question: #6's second question.
Restore Down: Camera's are always clicking in The Village.
Restore Up: Someone's always watching...
Start Windows: The opening music, just after #6 wakes up and looks out the window.
System Default: #6's third question.
Recycle: #6 states the way it is going to be!

May the Internet stay forever free!
